Epidemiology & Biostatistics

In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, there has been an infinite competition in the medical industry, where we have to make income in a variety of fields, including research, IT, big data, and 3D imaging. The purpose of this center is to establish a cooperative system of research and industrialization at all times, to activate research and development, and to make it easier to use research radiology equipment.

The students also have training in epidemiologic methods, quantitative methods in health research, and biostatistical methods. Graduates will have a good opportunity of working as a health professional in evaluating the effectiveness of new preventive and therapeutic modalities and of new organizational patterns of health care delivery. Health promotion is another area the department on, techniques for health promotion planning, national and regional policy for health promotion, and detailed methods for effective health education will be introduced. The division also provide a detailed review of all the steps involved in planning a health promotion program.

Epidemiology

Epidemiology is the study of the patterns and determinants of disease in populations, and is a required course for M.P.H. degree and constitutes a basic science for public health. It covers such topics as evaluation of diagnosis methods, reliability of measurement, use of disease-mortality ratios, clinical trials, cohort study, infectious disease, biases in epidemiological studies, inferences, and controlling confounders.

Biostatistics

This is a required course for M.P.H. degree and is about studying basic theories and applications of statistics. This course allows students to understand the methods of data collection, management, and statistical inference, and to obtain the ability of data analysis in the public health field.

Research Methods

This is a course about understanding scientific research and learning the scientific method to prepare for master’s thesis. It covers a variety of topics such as literature search, research topic selection, literature and prior studies review, research design and planning, variables, measures, and scales, data collection and sampling, survey design, data management, analysis and interpretation, qualitative study, thesis writing, and examples of master’s thesis in public health. Students are required to develop a research proposal and present a detailed plan.
